Dominique Swangstu, Natural Resources/Recreation Planner for the Village of Plover showing the improved depth of the Little Plover River

Work improving the Little Plover River has been going on for several years now. A portion of the work involves narrowing the river channel to better reflect its historic conditions. Narrowing of the channel allows it to more efficiently provide trout habitat at lower flow levels. Before restoration, this site was about two to three times as wide and very shallow. The current narrow, deep, grass-lined channel provides improved trout habitat conditions. The man standing in the river is Dominique Swangstu, Natural Resources/Recreation Planner for the Village of Plover. The flow at the County R gauge read 3.6 cfs that day. That gauge dipped below the public rights stage for only a few days last August.  Photo by Tracy Hames.
